El Valle lies about 8 miles or 13km south of Bahía Solano, in Chocó, Colombia. It has been referred to as where the jungle meets the sea. You really get the sense of just how remote it is when you get off the small 12-seater plane and take a tuk-tuk 40 minutes along the jungle to arrive.
La Piedra is easily accessible by bus from Medellín and is one of the best day trips you can do in Colombia. There’s something like 740 steps to the tippy-top and it is 100% worth the climb. After taking your 79th photo, take a tuk-tuk or taxi to the nearby town of Guatapé and walk among the vibrant houses and tiendas.
